Weekly Planet: Birds & Bridgerton

From Feathered Debutantes to Scandalous Plumage: Bridgerton's High Society Meets the Avian World!

@aliyajasmine Weekly Planet: My Current Obsessions: Birds + Bridgerton = BIRDgerton

Bridgerton is currently the #1 series on Netflix, and few have escaped the pull into obsession of another Shonda Rhimes television masterpiece. My only complaint is that the season was divided into two separate batches, and in the time between the first and second release, I found myself thinking about the characters, the plotlines, the romance, the betrayal, on an almost daily basis to the point it was distracting me from real life. In fact, I started seeing Bridgerton references everywhere, even in nature!

Full disclosure: I’m currently working on a development package for a major television network, while the subject of the project is hidden behind an NDA, what I can say is it’s about birds. So while researching and writing the treatment for this development package, here’s six of the funniest places my Bridgerton-obsessed mind wandered off to…Tell me I’m wrong?!

#6 Royal Flycatcher

The Royal Flycatcher is ready to enter society and strut into the next debutante ball, always trying to be the center of attention. Smh.

#5 Green Turaco

Doesn’t the Green Turaco just look like a VIscount known for his striking beauty and undeniable charm, but whispers lurk about unsavory indulgences in the wrong part of town! Scandalous!

#4 Tufted Puffin

The Bridgerton Men arent the only ones with noteworthy flow. Look at the blond locs on this Tufted Puffin! He may have an empty dance card, but he definitely has a full glass of wine. And let’s be honest, we love the drama of a red eyeshadow.

#3 Southern Crested Guinea Fowl

The Southern Crested Guinea Fowl is giiii-viiiing Madame Delacroix in this chic gothic look – an you just know, those feathers hold all the receipts.

#2 Gloster Canary

The Gloster Canary is serving Cressida Cowper sassiness, giving all of us commonfolk side eye. If only we could see the intensity of that furrowed brow under all that fringe.

#1 Victorian Pigeon

You are beautiful, my Queen! The Victorian Pigeon was infact, named after IRL Queen Victoria. These pigeons dwell on the ground, because if I looked this good I wouldn’t want the wind to mess up my hair either.

What do you think? Did I do right by the Ton? Am I basically now the Lady Whistledown of Nature? Join me on Instagram @aliyajasmine to comment on this video, or to see more like it, in my new weekly nature/environment series called, Weekly Planet.
