Aliya Jasmine and Aliza Sovani, first-generation Canadian sisters and daughters of Ugandan South Asian refugees, are the powerhouse duo behind Earth Tones, a purpose-driven media company. Together, they blend media expertise with environmental design, creating engaging, cross-platform content aimed at amplifying underrepresented voices in the green movement.
Their unique backgrounds and experiences drive a mission to create multimedia content that addresses critical issues such as climate justice, public health, and environmental equity, making them ideal partners for brands committed to sustainability and social responsibility.

Aliya Jasmine (‘AJ’) has spent the last 2 decades as a prominent TV Host, Producer, and Environmental journalist (M.A., F.R.C.G.S.) who’s award-winning stories have been staple viewing on national and local networks including NBC News, NBCUniversal, CTV Bell Media, MTV News, IMPACT, Discovery Channel, and more.
AJ holds a Masters in Environmental Journalism from the University of Southern California, a Social Media & Digital Marketing Certification from Harvard University, and bilingual (French & English) BA in Comms from the University of Ottawa. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Nature Conservancy’s Canadian chapter, Nature United, and is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
Aliza Sovani

Aliza is a Harvard-trained Landscape Architect, Environmental Designer and Scholar with experience spanning 10+ countries. She is a co-author of numerous publications including most recently: ‘A Sustainable Future: Urban Parks and Gardens’ (Prestel Publishing 2022) and ‘A Landscape Approach: From Local Communities to Territorial Systems’ (Oro Editions 2022.)
Aliza has been a design critic and guest lecturer at Harvard University, the University of Toronto, Carleton University, and the American University in Beirut. Trilingual in English, French and Spanish, she has engaged in collaborations with organizations such as the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the Institute for Andalusian Historical Heritage, the World Monuments Fund and Toulouse Métropole.
